Import and read a log
Where can I find an iPhone panic log?
On the device being investigated, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Analytics Data. Look for a panic-full report and use Share → Save to Files, then select it in PanicLens. Names and availability vary by iOS version. PanicLens does not automatically access the system Analytics Data folder.
Which files and import methods are supported?
Open .ips, .txt, .log or .json files, paste text, choose a photo or use the camera for on-device text recognition. Files are limited to 10 MB each and 20 per batch. Make cloud-provider files available locally first if access fails. Confirm the source-device context rather than assuming the log belongs to the phone running PanicLens.
Why must I review recognized text?
OCR can confuse 0/O, 1/I/l, punctuation and codes. Review the recognized text against the original image before analysis; PanicLens does not automatically correct codes. A clear, complete image improves readability.
Understand results and manual checks
Can a panic log confirm which part has failed?
A log alone cannot confirm a failed component or certify a device's condition. PanicLens shows observed terms, source evidence and suggested checks. This version has no verified production component-repair rules. Selected community repair references have limited model coverage and may contain unresolved conflicts; they are references, not a confirmed diagnosis. Unknown or unsupported results do not mean a device is healthy.
Can I run checks without importing a log?
Yes. Start display, touch, sound, button and exterior/connection checks, name the device being checked, and record your own verdict and notes. Display and touch checks can open full screen. A completed touch grid does not automatically determine hardware health. Save the session to a new or existing case.
Cases, reports and backups
How do I keep or remove local records?
Save related logs, findings, notes, checklists and up to five chosen repair photos per case. Save text edits before leaving. Raw log text is retained only when you explicitly choose it. You can remove retained raw logs, delete a case, or use Settings → Delete all local data. Local app records are excluded from automatic device backup; uninstalling the app or losing the device can lose them.
What is included in a shared report?
Preview a PDF or JSON summary before sharing. Reports omit raw logs, evidence excerpts, repair photos, source filenames, fingerprints and internal IDs. Notes, actions and check notes are excluded by default; if included, free-text redaction is best effort. Review the whole file before choosing a recipient. Report JSON is a summary, not a restorable backup.
How do I back up and restore my cases?
Use Settings → Backup & restore for a separate versioned JSON backup of cases, retained raw logs, photos, library state and the current check draft, up to 50 MB. Review counts and conflicts before restoring; existing cases can be kept and duplicates copied. This backup is not encrypted. Its checksum detects damage, not authenticity. Store it privately. Language, appearance and export preferences are not included.
Availability and privacy
Does PanicLens need an account or internet connection?
No account is required. OCR, log analysis and the bundled reference library run on device. Files or photos stored only in the cloud may need to be downloaded by their provider first. System sharing and optional external license links use the service you choose.
Which devices and languages are supported?
PanicLens is designed for iPhone with iOS 16 or later and includes English and Vietnamese. It is an independent utility and is not affiliated with Apple.
Are there subscriptions or in-app purchases?
PanicLens is planned as a paid App Store download without subscriptions or in-app purchases. The public listing and final download price will be shown on the App Store when available.
See the PanicLens Privacy Policy for data handling, permissions and deletion details.
