Discovery and the starter collection
What is included in the current preview?
The development preview includes ten species, with two pre-generated AI images per species, daily discovery, profiles, search and filters, Saved favorites, small and medium widgets, name pronunciation and optional local reminders. The app is still in development. Profiles, imagery and quiz content are awaiting independent review; this page does not announce an App Store release.
Are the animal images real wildlife photographs?
No. The twenty wildlife images are AI-generated illustrations with a photographic style, not field photographs. Portrait and habitat views are supplied for each species. They should not be treated as scientific or anatomical evidence. The app identifies research drafts and pending review in its profiles.
How does the daily animal change?
Today follows the current local calendar date using the installed collection. You can browse all ten species in Explore at any time. Search common or scientific names and filter by group or habitat. The widget uses the same daily-selection schedule, but iOS controls refresh timing, so an exact midnight update is not guaranteed.
Saved, widgets and reminders
How do I save or remove an animal?
Open a species profile and tap its bookmark button. Find your collection in Saved. Tap the bookmark again or remove the entry from Saved to remove it from your local favorites.
How do I add a Home Screen widget?
Touch and hold your Home Screen, open the system widget picker, find Daily Animal and choose its small or medium widget. The widget uses bundled content and works offline. If it appears out of date, open the app and allow iOS time to refresh it.
How do I enable or stop reminders?
In Settings, enable Daily reminder and choose a local time. Notification permission is requested only when you enable this option. You can turn the reminder off in the app or manage notification permission in system Settings. Device notification settings can affect delivery.
Offline use, pronunciation and quizzes
Does Daily Animal need an account or internet connection?
No account is required. Core discovery, profiles, images and widget resources are bundled for offline use. Scientific source websites open only when you choose a reference and require internet. Sharing uses the destination you select in the system share sheet.
Why can I not hear an animal name?
Name pronunciation uses an installed English system speech voice. Check device volume and whether an English voice is available on your device. No third-party speech service is integrated.
Why are quiz questions awaiting review?
Normal quiz modes remain unavailable until the relevant facts, questions and imagery pass independent review. Some development builds provide a clearly labelled text-question review preview; its scores are not saved. Image questions remain locked while their imagery is awaiting approval.
Availability and privacy
Which devices are supported, and where can I download the app?
Daily Animal is being developed for iPhone and iPad running iOS/iPadOS 17 or later, with English content. No public App Store listing has been supplied yet. It is planned as a paid download without advertising, subscriptions or in-app purchases; final pricing will appear on the App Store when available.
Where is my data stored?
Saved favorites, appearance, reminder preferences and any eligible quiz results are stored locally. System backups may include this data. There is no app account, backend, advertising, analytics or tracking SDK. See the Daily Animal Privacy Policy for details.
